Privacy Policy for Shifa

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Shifa, developed by Tapply AI, collects, uses, and protects user data. This policy applies to the Shifa application published on Google Play Store and App Store.

Data We Collect

Shifa may collect the following data: Account information (email, username), location data for prayer times and Qibla finder, prayer tracking and reminder data, Quran reading progress, Dhikr counter data, Islamic community interaction data, application usage statistics, device information (device type, operating system), and crash reports. All data is processed in compliance with GDPR and local privacy laws.

Data Usage Purposes

We use collected data for: Providing accurate prayer times based on your location, determining Qibla direction, tracking your prayer and spiritual practice progress, synchronizing your data across devices, providing personalized Islamic content and reminders, facilitating community features, enhancing app stability, and providing user support. Your data is never shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

AI Assistant and Data Processing

Shifa includes an AI-powered Islamic knowledge assistant. IMPORTANT: The AI feature does NOT send any personal data outside the device or to third-party AI systems. When you use the AI assistant, your questions are processed through secure API calls to our backend servers, which then communicate with OpenAI's API. Only the text of your question is transmitted - NO personal information, account details, prayer history, location data, or any other user-specific data is included in these requests. The AI service (OpenAI) receives only anonymized question text without any identifiable information. Your conversation history and responses are stored only on our secure servers (Google Cloud Platform) and are retained for 90 days for service improvement purposes, after which they are automatically deleted. When you delete your account, all AI conversation data is permanently deleted along with your other personal data. The AI assistant operates independently and does not have access to your personal data, prayer history, Quran reading progress, or any other private information stored in the app.

Data Sharing and Processing

Shifa does not sell or share user data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with essential technical service providers (Firebase, Google Analytics, Google Maps for Qibla finder) necessary for providing app services. No user-specific data is shared with AI service providers. Limited data sharing may occur with authorities when legally required.

Data Security and Storage

Shifa implements AES-256 encryption, secure data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access control, and regular security audits to protect your data. Data is securely stored on Google Cloud Platform. Upon account deletion request, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

User Rights (GDPR)

Our users have the following rights: Right to access your personal data, right to rectification and updates, right to erasure ('right to be forgotten'), right to data portability, and right to object to processing. You can exercise these rights through in-app settings or by contacting support@tapply.ai.

Third-Party Services

Shifa uses the following third-party services: Google Firebase (authentication, data storage and analytics), Google Maps (for Qibla finder and prayer times), and OpenAI API (for AI assistant text generation only - receives only anonymized question text, no personal data). Each service has its own privacy policy available on their respective websites. Data Shared with AI Provider: Only the text content of user questions submitted to the AI assistant is shared with OpenAI. NO personal information, account data, usage data, location, prayer history, or any other user-specific information is transmitted to the AI service. Data Retention by AI Provider: According to OpenAI's API data usage policy, API requests are not used to train their models and are retained for 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted. Our internal conversation logs are retained for 90 days on our secure servers for service improvement.

Children's Privacy

Shifa does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we discover we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately. Parents can contact support@tapply.ai with concerns about this matter.

Policy Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated as needed. Users will be notified of significant changes through in-app notifications and email. The current policy is always published on this page with the last update date specified.
